Purpose and Calling - The Great Commission, Part 39

We have been discussing how The Great Commission is to make disciples, not just converts. Disciples live to learn from their Master, Jesus, and to become like Him. To do this, they daily sit at His feet and then seek to abide in Him all day. These find their place in His body, because we cannot be rightly joined to the Head without also being rightly joined to His body, the church. It is here that we are to be taught, trained, and equipped for our specific purpose, our calling and ministry, which all Christians have.

A Victorious Controversy?

There is a growing controversy over elements in John Hagee’s most recent book, In Defense of Israel. The teaching in this book that Jesus never intended to be the Messiah of Israel is a serious departure from basic Christian doctrine, as well as the clear testimony of Scripture. However, this revolution is not a rebellion against our earthly governments or any other earthly authority, but against “the prince of this world,” the devil. We must always keep in mind Ephesians 6:12:

Taking the Land, Part 8

Before the New Year’s message and in the last part of our study, we examined the ban that Achan violated which led to his and his family’s destruction. This may have seemed harsh, but it was intended to deal with the greed within the people that could have nullified the entire purpose of the nation and ultimately even destroyed them.

Victory Over Death

Last week we discussed how the Jordan River, which represents death, overflowed all of its banks all the days of the harvest. This was a prophetic sign that during the harvest (the end of the age), we can expect death to be overflowing all of its banks. However, when the Ark and the people of Israel entered into the Jordan, it says that its waters were rolled back all the way to Adam.
