Day 52 - Who Can Discern Truth

As we pursue sinking our roots deeper into God's Word, we need to understand the basic biblical principles that lead to truth, and most of all, lead to Him who is the Truth. A fundamental requirement for discerning the truth is found in the remarkable statement made by the Lord in Matthew 11:25:

The Supreme Court and the Mark of the Beast

In Revelation 13 it is prophesied that at the end of the age there will be a false prophet that arises to prepare for and give power to one called “the beast.” This “beast” deceives the nations and requires all to take a mark, 666. Without this mark no one can “buy, sell, or trade.” This “mark of the beast” has been a dominant subject in eschatology (the study of biblical prophecies of the end of the age) since the first century, and many things have been called this that turned out not to be so.

Day 4 - The Light

Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light (Genesis 1:3).

Without light, we could not see. Light makes all things manifest. After the Spirit moved, His first great task was to bring forth light. Light represents truth, and as soon as the Lord begins to move in our lives, His first task will be to shine the light of His truth into our lives.

It is interesting to note that light was created before the sun, moon, and the stars, and did not take place until the fourth day of creation.

A Basic Biblical Worldview - The Great Commission, Part 30

A basic biblical worldview established in Scripture includes:

1)   God created the world and mankind for a special relationship with Him.

2)   Man became separated from God by sin.

3)   God so loved mankind and the world that He made provision for our redemption and reconciliation through the atonement sacrifice of His Son on the cross.

4)   He delayed the restoration of the world so that He could call out of this present evil age those whose lives proved they love Him more than evil.

Hurricane Katrina

It is understandable that almost everyone in the U.S. is now very focused on the tragedy caused by Hurricane Katrina. It is a tragedy that will touch us all in many ways and will continue to unfold over the weeks and months ahead. Even so, the end result is that we are going to be much better and much stronger as a nation. The Gulf Coast region will also emerge better than ever, and stronger.

Fighting the Right Fight

I confess that I personally have a problem hearing people say that Islam is a peaceful religion. Any religion that has a doctrine which states that if someone leaves that religion they should be killed cannot be considered peaceful. That is terrorism in its most basic, and oppressive, form. However, there is more than one face to Islam, just as there are presently many faces to Christianity. It is wrong for us to judge any person or group by their most extreme elements.

Beyond the Book of Acts

Those who have true faith do not just believe that the events written in the Bible are true--they believe the same works of God can be done through their own life. This faith has been growing in a great company of witnesses who are soon to be released throughout the earth.

Eyes That See

We continue our study of Ephesians and the purpose of the church with Chapter 1:18:

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

Discerning the Times, Part 56

This study is not intended to just impart what I perceive to be an accurate perspective of the times, but to address how to discern the times. One of the most important gifts we can have in these times is discernment, which is something I am persuaded that God wants to give to every true disciple. The Lord has also given us simple, clear instructions on how we can grow in this gift. Without it we will be increasingly subject to deception in the times to come. With it the world and our own purpose in it will become less and less confusing and more and more clear.

The Army of God Mobilizes, Part 1

There is an army gathering like no other that the world has ever seen. It will be both an irresistible force and an immovable object. Where it marches, it will conquer. Where it takes a stand, it will not be moved. That it is now gathering is one of the great signs that the end of this age is at hand, and the King will soon come to establish His kingdom. It is time to prepare the way for the Lord.
