The Day After Annapolis

Reuven and Mary Lou Doron
December 3, 2007

As the world stumbles on in a drunken stupor to soon celebrate the beginning of another calendar year, the birth pains of the kingdom of God continue to intensify all across the earth. And though it appears that the recent "Peace Summit" in Maryland concluded with a political "whimper," its ramifications and perceived accomplishments have ratcheted up the Middle East drama another notch higher than it was a week ago.

A Strong Tower

On Friday, September 28, we celebrated the Grand Opening of the Heritage Grand Hotel and Conference Center. It was three years to the day from when we closed on the former PTL property. On Monday, November 5, MorningStar passed its third and final public hearing on the rezoning of the property to allow for the completion of the historic 21-story high-rise on the property. This is a major breakthrough, but why is this building "historic?"

The Holy Spirit and the Arts

A well-known artist recently stated that “the future of art is perversion.” That is the devil’s prophecy, and no doubt the devil’s intent. When one looks at the direction art has taken in recent times from fine art, to modern art, to cinematic art, to music, it seems that this has been coming true. However, art belongs to God, and He is going to take art back.

An Extraordinary Time

Conferences have been a basic part of our ministry since 1990. MorningStar will have hosted over one hundred conferences this coming year, and we have felt a grace on each one to go at least a little higher than the previous ones. Even so, we had sensed that our recent Harvest and Worship & Warfare Conferences were going to be special, and we were not disappointed. Every one of our team and staff that I talked to said they felt that they were the best conferences we have ever had, and we have had some historic conferences.

An Extraordinary Person

On July 20, when Tammy Faye Messener passed away at age sixty-five, it was on international news because she was considered one of the interesting and extraordinary people of these times. As the wife of Jim Bakker, she was a co-founder of Heritage USA, and one of the pioneers of Christian television. After the failure of the PTL ministry, Tammy Faye continued to surface in the news, and drew continual interest from millions because she was such an interesting person.

Forty Days for Forty Years

There are moments in history when a door for massive change opens and great revolutions for good or evil spring up in the vacuum created by these openings. In these divine moments, key men and women and even entire generations risk everything to become the hinge of history, the pivotal point that determines which way the door will swing.

A Dragonfly

The nation now sits in stunned disbelief at the tragedy that took place on the Virginia Tech campus when a student killed thirty-two fellow students and faculty before taking his own life. Certainly our prayers and any other kind of support or help that we can give should be going out to the families and friends of those touched by this seemingly senseless disaster.
